Part III in which there was finally snow!

There's part I when there wasn't much snow at all, part II when I may or may not have dropped the baby, and now finally part III in which we FINALLY got snow!  And not just snow, but winter wonderland,  10" loverly blanket of turn everything white and perfect snow!
We woke up New Year's day (ya I'm a little behind in the blog) and the littles rushed to the windows to see to see it, and it was all I had hoped!

This is one of my cutie patootie nephews.  He and Jude had a lot of fun together making snow mischief.
See?  What'd I tell you?  Mischievous little imps aren't they?!

But they weren't the only ones being a bit naughty!  See the two cute sisters playing so sweetly below?  Give 'em a moment...
... and one will take revenge on her little sister when she least suspects it!
It snowed off and on while they played, and sometimes the snow fell out of the trees and landed on some one's head and went down her sweater and wowzers was that cold!
And not only did we wake up with snow, but icicles too!  The kids were pretty sure that icicles were the best thing is the whole wide world!  And I can't say that I disagree with them.
And Patch even made an appearance (never you mind that he's wearing sweats!  It wouldn't surprise me if he had flip flops on too, cause Patch is Patch, and that's just not a hill I'm willing to die on!) and had a sword icicle fight.  And Tess, with her big brother to play with and a weapon in her hand and a battle to fight.., died and went to heaven right then and right there!
Good golly I love this boy!  He's just so so SO sweet!
And then the sun came out, and our little winter wonderland got even better!
So after all that finger crossing and hoping and hoping and hoping, we finally got our snow!  And we were crazy desert rats playing in the snow... and it was bliss.  More than I dared hoped for. Just the type of holiday we needed to start the new year off right!

  3. Love the pictures and story as always :) Had to laugh at Tess's delight in her fight with weapons :) Mimi is as cute as always, and you have to love teens that will play with their little siblings.....even if it's in flip flops. Jude is just scrumptious too. Love the icicle pic. How far do you guys have to drive from the desert to find snow?

    1. Judy, it depends on how low it snows. But we usually could go only 90 min and find snow after a storm. Little Cabin in the Woods is 3 hours drive from our home though. It really is the best of both worlds!
