Guess who's potty trained?

I was the one who single-handedly unpotty trained her when we got her.  So it was only fair that I assumed the responsibility to re-train her.  One big thing was stopping me, her communication skills.  But something told me her fierce independence would make up for that.  And boy did it ever!  She has been one of the easiest to potty train yet, and she is the youngest one of my 7.  It was only about 2 days and 2 accidents and we were done.  I officially created an m&m addict in the process.
I was never sure if she really was potty trained when we got her at 23 months old.  She certainly didn't show any of the signs when we got her.  But in hind sight, I think grief may have taken over and seeing as how it was SO easy to potty train her now, I think she probably was.

  6. YAY! Goodbye diapers, hello big girl panties!
We're battling potty training right now. M&M's worked for a few days & now Melaina wants nothing to do with the toilet, only candy, so I'm not pushing her.
    Congrats :)

    1. You're smart to wait. I take no credit for her potty training. Her foster mama did the hard work long ago.

  7. I'm totally jealous!! A year & a half home, 3 years old... and we're still struggling. He seems to have zero interest- couldn't care less that he's wet or dirty. I think we're going to have to go with the "naked" method, but I'll need to send my husband away cause that'd be the end of his sanity!

    Congrats!!!

    1. The turning point for us was when Mimi started to want to/try to change her own diapers, and she wasn't very "thorough" at cleaning it all up. I figured if she was independent enough to do that, she could certainly use the toilet. She was overly ready. I should have done it MONTHS earlier. Oh well.
We've done the naked bottom half for all the kiddos for the first few days. I think it works much better than trainers.

  8. Yippee! M&Ms have been my incentive with my last 3 kiddos, too! Worked wonderfully for them. I knew the 2 girls were officially potty trained when they could emit a teaspoon, get a treat and then return to the potty 5minutes later and repeat the scenario for another M&M! Our youngest was potty trained before he came to us, was sick when we got him in a way that threw potty training out the window, but was won over by the M &M method a few months after being home. The treats have been phased out (obviously) but every now and then they still ask!

  9. Awesome! I may have to resort to bribery to get Lorelai to go #2 on the potty...:)

    1. Bribery is totally fair game in potty training! Use what you have to!

  10. Woohoo, way to go Mimi (and mom)! I am a little behind on reading blogs and loved catching up with yours today. Such awesome pictures of Nanchang and brought back lots of sweet memories. The eggs-- lots of hard boiled eggs being eaten in China for sure! :) Love the pictures of the sisters doing yoga!
