I talk to children all day long. My daily conversations contain phrases, like Don't put that fork up your nose! Or If I have to pull this car over you're going to be sorry! Or Please do not change your own diaper. So it's no small wonder that I often seek out contact with adults.

Hello lovelies!
One of my favorite things about blogging is connecting with others, as far away as Australia and VietNam, and as close as my own city. Oh the people I have met online. Some real friendships have been formed over my 5 years blogging. And oh you know I love me some comments! I read every single one and often share them with Papa. And I really try to reply to everyone that leaves me a comment, and answer the questions that sometimes come!
But very often, over half of the time, I can't reply to a comment. Sadly, when I try to reply to a comment a "no-reply" frequently pops up because folks don't have their account set up to receive replies. By default, all Blogger accounts are set up to be "no-reply" unless you change your settings. (I have no idea how Wordpress or other blog hosts are set up.)
If you'd like to ensure that people like me can reply to your comments, here are 7 easy steps to follow. It took me about 1 minute to do this.
1) Go to your Blogger dashboard
2) Click on the down arrow by your name in the top right hand corner
3) Select the orange box that says "Blogger profile"
4) Click "Edit Profile" in top right hand corner
5) Under Privacy, make sure the "Show my email address" box is checked
6) Under Identity, make sure your email address is listed by where it says "Email Address"
7) Scroll to the bottom and click "Save Changes"
If you're not sure if your settings allow replies to your comment, feel free to comment here, and I'll reply back to your email... that is if you have it set up for replies.
Looking forward to hearing from you, and replying to your comments!

Ok, I did that and it took wwaaaayyy more time than it should have and I dont know if it worked or not, but there you go!
ReplyDeleteI just recently figured out our to reply to comments on my blog. Something I would like to know is why when I leave a comment on some Blogger blogs I have to sign in with my old blog instead of being able to type in my current one? I don't like that! Yours has the option for me. It says Name/URL but not everyones does.
ReplyDeleteHey! Thanks for the tip! I just changed it ;-)
ReplyDeleteNancy,
ReplyDeleteI have taken your lead and now reply to everyone's comments also on my blog. I recently had one of my blog readers contact me and ask if he could be a guest blogger on my blog!!! How cool is that? He then tweeted and facebooked his friends once I posted the blog. If you ever wanted to be a guest blogger on my blog I would LOVE it!! You are my favorite blog to read! How's that for sweetening you up??? But it is true!
Warm Regards,
Liz
Thanks so much for the blogger tutorial! My email box was not checked!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you remember me, but we met in GZ at the Marriott at breakfast. When I was concerned about Melaina not walking when we met her, you responded with "You'll get to see her first steps!" I remembered your comment everyday & it helped me get thru those first few weeks at home.
So, I'm formally thanking you for your "support".
Mimi is simply beautiful & fits perfectly in your family :)
I love your blogging & enjoy peeking in on your life!

Hi
ReplyDeleteI just changed my blogger profile!!
I had been thinking of you as I just sent my last two to kindergarden (all day) on Monday. This house is crazy quite. I cried too...they did not. They come home with smiles on their faces. I know this changes things now with all of them in school and I miss them even though I am grateful they are healthy and growing. I haven't posted my photos yet will tomorrow. Thank you for sharing as I see your two very cute kids I think of mine and I feel what your heart does! Teri
You're so helpful! Mine was already set correctly, but I double checked. It drives me crazy too when I want to reply to someone and can't.
ReplyDeleteLiz---You're a "no reply" And I can't email you to tell you that, so I'm hoping you read this message. I'm flattered! I'd love to be a guest blogger for you!
ReplyDeletenancy
Sharon- You're a "no-reply" also. I can not reply to your comment. It does show your name, but there's also no link at all to your Blogger profile thus no way to get to your blog either.
ReplyDeletenancy
OK, I did it.... It was also a good time to change my 5+ year old profile picture!!! :)
ReplyDeleteTesting..
ReplyDeleteYeah, I did a post on this too! I felt so bad about not being able to respond to some of my comments. Most people don't even realize they are a noreply either so lord knows what they are thinking when they don't get a response back!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy. I changed my settings. I hope they are working now. You are so very right!! I have so thoroughly enjoyed the friendships I've made via blogging. We all share things in common and it is a wonderful way to build some fun relationships that we otherwise would not have had. I was going to post this on the "kinnygarben" post but since I'm here I'll post it here: Faith calls the clothes hamper the "hamburger" and she calls her underwear "booty" so one day she was heading for the tub and asked me "Do you want me to put my booty in the hamburger?" To which Gracie turned to me, screwed her face all around and said, "I don't know if I want her booty in the hamburger!!"
ReplyDeleteCherie
So now how do I make it say my name instead of unknown? I got it to add a picture on my own :)
ReplyDeleteNow it shows my name, has a picture, and get get replies! Now I need to really get my act together and start blogging my Bentos... I post them on Facebook and people keep bugging me to do a blog on them.. some day.. when I have time.. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm curious if you can reply to me. I just found your blog. You have a lovely family.
ReplyDeleteSo glad I read found this out!! I have enjoyed your tutorials to the utmost!! I'm still learning and had to laugh because I did an impromptu photoshoot w/my five year old and was stun that I got the "blurred background" *see profile pic*!! I still to this day CANNOT tell you how I did it! I had given up that I was just NOT GONNA GET IT!! Well guess what...I still can't figured out "what I did right"!!! I was just trying to get her in focus and after I uploaded the pics I was SHOCKED!! I have not achieved it again. :( Then I saw your newest post about lighting and guess what...I got cute pics w/dark lighting!! One day I'm gonna figure this out!! Keep the tutorials coming!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I had no idea my settings were like this. With many of my blog deficiencies, at least I'm aware of the issue and just need to find the time to fix it all! ha!)
ReplyDeleteI think I've changed it now. Would love it if you check for me, at some point. (Now, HOW do I do this....?)
Tammy @ Teaching FSL
Ahhh! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteI recently changed to Google + so I'm having problems following your instructions but really want to change it! I'm being stupid or are these instructions for non Google+ users..... If you could help that would be great!
ReplyDeleteOk might be ok - I went back to my old blogger profile to try and make the changes!
ReplyDeleteI was not aware of this! I thought that if I clicked next to the box of "show email" it would literally show my email. I suppose that clicking the box just makes it possible for readers of my comments to send me a reply?
ReplyDeleteThanks for this tutorial!
I found your blog via Carole's Chatter Blog Tips where this tutorial was linked in one of her tips!

I just changed my blogger profile!! Am I still a no-reply blogger?
ReplyDeleteI emailed you. It's working!
DeleteThank you so much! I had the box checked but it was the wrong email! Please reply so I can tell if it works now. Again, thank you!
ReplyDeleteAndrea--Sorry but it's still not working. I can not reply. Maybe you will stumble upon this reply.

I just stumbled upon your blog...Thanks for the tips! I don't have anything that says "Blogger Profile." When I pull down the arrow, it says "View Profile" and then links me to my Google+ Profile. Any suggestions?

Sarah- I honestly don't know. I did notice that your blog is Wordpress, and I'm pretty sure you must have a previously made Blogger profile to access/amend. Not sure if that's why, but maybe?

THANK YOU for the help!! Could you reply & make sure I'm no longer a no-rely blogger? Appreciate it!! Have a great night! ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope I have it right now! Thanks for the directions, Mama! God's blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteLorna-It did NOT work. I tried to reply and couldn't get through. Hope you'll see this message.
